ITINERARY 9 days / 8 nights
Day 1. Welcome to Serbia
Arrive at “Nikola Tesla” International Airport.
Our guide will meet you in the arrivals hall, holding a sign with your name. He will do the following: assist with your currency exchange, provide essential information about Belgrade, assist with check-in, explain the location of your accommodation, advise on how to reach the main sights, and give you an overview of current events in the city.
If your flight is delayed, there is no need to worry. We will monitor your flight, and our guide will meet you accordingly. There are no additional charges for flight delays. After a short ride of 20 minutes, you’ll be in the city’s center. Check in at the hotel, and take the rest of the day to get more familiar with Belgrade, walk around, or follow your guide’s recommendation for dinner.
Overnight: Belgrade
Day 2. Explore Belgrade
Breakfast. After breakfast, we’ll start with our Belgrade sightseeing tour. Today, we will show you most of the city’s most important sights.
We’ll start at the daunting Belgrade Fortress, dramatically perched above the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. We’ll visit the Victor Monument, the Monument of Gratitude to France, the Zindan Gate, the Chapel of Saint Petka, the Clock Gate, and the Clock Tower.
Once we finish at the fortress, we will begin our panoramic ride through New Belgrade – Belgrade’s largest municipality, featuring impressive modern architecture. Here, we will see some notable buildings, including the former Central Committee of the Communist Party, the Federal Executive Council (also known as the Palace of Federation), Genex Tower, the Western Gate of Belgrade, the Sava Center, Belgrade Arena, and more.
After New Belgrade, we’ll reach Zemun, a northern area of Belgrade known for its Central European character, charming quarters, cobblestone streets, and fish restaurants along the Danube River. Its curvy cobblestone streets and small houses will give you the impression that Zemun is a melting pot of Mediterranean and Middle European cultures.
After Zemun, we’ll drive through Dedinje, Belgrade’s most luxurious residential area, before we reach the imposing Saint Sava Temple, one of the world’s largest Orthodox churches.
After the sightseeing tour, spend this afternoon on your own. Maybe check out Nikola Tesla’s Museum, the National Museum, or wander around the central streets.
In the evening, visit the Old Bohemian Quarter of Skadarlija, often compared to Montmartre in Paris in both appearance and artistic atmosphere. It’s a perfect opportunity to familiarize yourself with traditional Serbian cuisine and the famous Belgrade nightlife. (Optional = 30€ per person)
Overnight: Belgrade
Day 3. From Belgrade to Budapest
After breakfast, we’ll pack our things and head for Budapest.
On our way to the Hungarian capital, we will visit Novi Sad, Serbia’s second-largest city. Our first stop is the second-largest fortress on the Danube River – Petrovaradin Fortress, one of the most important strategic points in the perpetual war between the Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman Empires. We will be introduced to the legends of the underground passages before we continue to “Serbian Athens,” as Novi Sad is known.
As we stroll through Novi Sad’s great cultural institutions and historic buildings, we will visit the oldest part of the city, the Zmaj Jovina pedestrian zone. Here, we will be introduced to the rich history of Novi Sad, including the monument to Svetozar Miletic, the Novi Sad Cathedral, and the Episcopal Church. After sightseeing, enjoy some free time to discover Novi Sad independently, maybe have a drink on the Danube banks, or grab a bite.
After we enjoyed Novi Sad, we’ll proceed towards “Pearl of the Danube”, as Budapest is often called. After around 3 hours of driving, we will arrive. Check in at the hotel, and take the rest of the day to get more familiar with Budapest, walk around, or follow your guide’s recommendation for dinner.
Overnight: Budapest
Day 4. Explore Budapest
After breakfast, we will begin our comprehensive city tour of Budapest with a view from Gellert Hill.
Enjoy an unbeatable panorama of the city and the Danube River as your guide fills you in on the city’s two halves: Buda, the ancient seat of the Hungarian Kings, and Pest, the heart of the modern city. Start your explorations in Buda with a tour of the medieval castle and follow your guide around Trinity Square, Fisherman’s Bastion, and Matyas church. After snapping photos of the grand Buda Castle, which dates from the 13th century, cross the iconic Chain Bridge into Pest, stopping to admire the magnificent Hungarian Parliament Building on the waterfront. Browse the shops along lively Vaci Street, then take a peek inside the opulent St. Stephen’s Basilica, where the star attraction is, somewhat bizarrely, the right hand of its namesake King Stephen. Next, stroll down the elegant Andrassy Avenue, home to the lavish Hungarian State Opera House, and marvel over the monuments of Heroes Square. End the tour with a walk through the historic Great Market Hall with its over 100 market stalls and endless choices of local products.
Time this afternoon on your own. You can walk around the streets of Budapest and explore the city independently, sip coffee in style at the famous New York Palace, book a tour around the National Parliament Building, or maybe check why Budapest is also called “The city of spas” and relax in one of the famous ones.
In the evening, we strongly recommend booking an optional Danube cruise to see Budapest at its best, with the most beautiful buildings best viewed from the water.
Overnight: Budapest
Day 5. Bratislava & Vienna
Today is the time to leave Hungary behind us and visit another European capital: Bratislava.
After only two hours of an easy ride, we will arrive in this charming town and immediately begin our walking tour. We’ll check the most important sights, including the Bratislava Fortress, St Martin’s Cathedral, the National Theater, and the “UFO Bridge.”
After the tour, take some free time to soak up the laid-back atmosphere of the Main Square and grab a coffee or lunch before we proceed to Vienna.
Excluding Rome and the Vatican, Bratislava and Vienna are the two closest capitals in Europe, so in less than one hour, you’ll be at your hotel in Vienna. Check in and enjoy your free evening. Walk along the Danube River, listen to a classical music concert, or check out one of Vienna’s famous rooftop bars.
Overnight: Vienna
Day 6. Explore Vienna
It’s not easy to mention all the reasons why Vienna is one of Europe’s most desired destinations, but we’ll give it a shot. From world-class museums, stunning parks and gardens, imperial charm and impressive architecture to rich cultural heritage and famous cafes, Vienna has it all.
During our city tour, we will show you the most important sights.
We will walk through the Old Town and the Hofburg Palace, check out the National Opera House, the Albertina Museum, the Maria-Theresien Platz, Helden Platz, and, of course, the Stephansplatz with the symbol of Vienna – St. Stephen’s Cathedral.
After the tour, you have a not-so-easy task in front of you: choose which one of the magnificent Vienna museums you will visit.
Kunsthistorisches Museum, Albertina Palace, Belvedere, Sigmund Freud Museum, Sisi Museum, Leopold Museum, House of Music, and the list goes on… Whichever you choose, you’ll make a good decision.
Free time.
Overnight: Vienna
Day 7. Visit the Schonbrunn Palace and transfer to Prague
Today, we will visit one of the most stunning palaces in all of Europe, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and have an authentic experience of imperial heritage. This is the country’s most important architectural, cultural, and historic monument.
During our self-guided Grand Tour (audio guides available), which lasts about 60 minutes, we will walk through 40 rooms, including the private apartments of Franc Joseph and Elisabeth, rooms used by Maria Theresa and Napoleon, and the room where Mozart performed for the court and guests.
After the tour through the palace, enjoy some free time walking around the magnificent Palace Gardens or maybe visiting the Tiergarten Schonbrunn – the world’s oldest zoo.
After this memorable experience, we’ll depart for Prague, arriving late in the evening.
Overnight: Prague
Day 8. Explore Prague
Welcome to the “Golden City” or “The City of a Hundred Spires,” known for its stunning architecture, including Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance buildings.
A morning sightseeing tour of Prague includes a visit to the Royal Castle District at Hradcany, the former residence of the Bohemian kings. Enjoy magnificent city views and Charles Bridge below, and visit St. Vitus Cathedral. After your visit, visit St. George’s Basilica, the oldest church in the Castle complex and Prague’s best-preserved Romanesque basilica. We’ll cross the 14th-century Charles Bridge and explore the Old Town, with the Astronomical Clock and the Powder Tower.
Enjoy your free afternoon and evening in Prague, try some delicious local food, and of course, visit one of the breweries Prague is so famous for.
Overnight: Prague
Day 9. Transfer to the airport
Breakfast. Free time until your flight. Transfer to the airport. End of services. Have a safe flight! Of course, we’ll gladly assist you if you want to extend your European adventure and continue to Berlin, Munich, Dresden, Krakow, or somewhere else.
